J.A.:   I hope you are doing well!!! How was Chile?

K.D.:   -incredible-

J.A.:   What kind of music did you play?

K.D.:   My favorite was an arrangement of Herbie Hancock's Canteloupe Island- a funky jazz tune which I arranged as a rap tune. The crowd went nuts every night!! : )

Tatty:   Who did you play with?

K.D.:   Fareed Haque , a half Chilean guitar player I worked with witha famous jazz pianist named Joe Zawinul

J.A.:   How many different people do you play with?

K.D.:   five people

J.A.:   How do you know all the music they play?

K.D.:   The repetoire on this Chilean tour with Fareed Haque was primarily standard jazz repetoire which all the musicians know collectively: The scenario is as follows in a nut shell:The bandleader asks us each if we know a given song and if nobody says "no" we do it!!!

J.A.:   Is that why you are always telling me you are trying to memorize the music?

K.D.:   Absolutely not- That was a different situation-I think you are referring to a beautiful musical situation I found myself in in July 1998...That was with the band "Dreams Come True" they were the famous pop band from Japan...remember?They had lots of specific repetoire I was not familiar with, and they needed it to be perfect like the record...Because of my spontaneous jazz background, I found it challenging to sit and memorize all that specific music, but I did it and in the end it was EXTREMELY rewarding! That was four months ago,J.A.; I did memorize that music-"MASA AND MIWA of DREAMS COME TRUE "You made my day!!!..." See J.A. I find it lots of fun usually in a jazz situation, to make up the music spontaneously as we go along- by listening and reacting quickly... Also not too long ago I recorded with the group Niacin! If you haven't heard it I recommend our c.d. 'HIGH BIAS" featuring Billy Sheehan, Jon Novello, Dennis Chambers, and Chick Corea- Now there was a situation where I had to memorize some real complicated music in only one or two days! - Kevin Trudeau's Mega Memory system has helped!
